Fuel Leak from Throttle Shaft
« on: June 05, 2009, 03:40:56 am »
'86 Jetta 1.6.  Is there any information on how to change this seal?  Fuel is being pushed up the shaft (on top of the pump) and dripping down pretty regularly.  It sometimes goes away but seems more consistent now.  I'd appreciate any advice, opinions, etc.  Is this the best place to post this question?  I've been reading old posts and have learned a lot but haven't run across this particular issue yet.

TIA

I'm no help but good to see your name over here! You should post some of your head rebuild photos & get some vendor status here!!

i bought the seal kit from a local turbo shop for 18.00 can. it had all the o-rings and ft seal . the pump was for a 95 1.9 aaz , i was able to pop the top off and remove the shaft and rpl the o-ring the shaft has to come out to do it on this pump. just slowly lift the cover off and look what / how it comes apart  mine was in the vice/bench  it would be much harder on the car.
my expereance. PS they told me that if the shaft bushing was worn it has to be epoxed glued in to rpl it.
