twin turbo MTDI
« on: April 29, 2009, 12:14:50 am »
Has anybody successfully built a twin turbo MTDI? if so, what turbo were used for the primary and secondary? I have converted my TDI(AHU) to a twin turbo with some turbos I had at my shop(GT15) (TD05) and it works well but my secondary turbo is too small and my EGT will hit 1350 F. by the time I hit 110kph.
I am using a 12mm giles pump and running 30PSI of boost. I am ready to fabricate a more effient exhaust manifold because I am currently using the stock manifold and turbo(GT15) until I know what turbo will work better.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks

I think you are one of the few and maybe the only one on this side of the pond. Could you post some pics of your set-up? Do you have an external waste-gate? Ported? What are you running for a headgasket/headstuds?

I have a running TDI-M with compound turbos.I don't know how to read compressor maps etc..but have eventually come up with a working system after 4+ years of testing.

Depends on how much boost you are looking for? What compressor  inducer size is the the primary turbo?

Hey guys. I am using ARP studs with a 3 hole head gask. I keep the boost to a max of 30psi, tried 40psi once and blew the head gask. I ported the exhaust, but only cleaned up the intake ports (didn't want to loose the swirl effect) and I am using an external waste gate. I will send some pictures.
I don't know what size my primary inducer is but I will find out.
What turbos are you using, and what are the pros and cons to your set up?
Thank for your response.

Hey guys

i have been working with a guy called Devor from Precision Auto
in Kelowna, BC and he has built a Twin turbo M-TDI in a mrk 3 jetta.

he's using an early TDI non vnt turbo and i'm not sure what the
bigger one is though.

he had an impromptu race with a Porsche turbo ceyenne and
kept up no problem. he's getting a dyno done soon
