1.6D a/c mounting bracket help
« on: June 02, 2009, 11:04:22 am »
I have a 1982 Jetta Diesel coupe with a/c (no p/s) and the alternator mounted up top. The a/c compressor pivot bolt broke off and is seized in the bracket. Is a gasser bracket the same? If not, is it close to enough that I can modify it to fit? Thanks in advance!!!!

Gasser bracket is not even close. If you found an early (up to 1979) bracket from a car with a Sanden compressor, you might be able to do some welding. But then again, it's cast iron, soooooo......

I've had some luck with drills and EZ outs on those. You have to be careful though and not break the EZ out in the bracket. Then you def. need to replace the bracket.

If you need just the cast iron bracket, shoot me a PM. I've got a couple of spares.
