Rabbit Instrument Cluster with cruse control???
« on: May 30, 2009, 09:20:10 am »
I am wanting to know if there is any way to tell the difference between a non-cruse and cruse control equipped Rabbit cluster just by looking at it - back or front??? I think they came out with the cruse control option for the Rabbits in 85 or maybe late 84 but my idea was to get one and put it in my 81 Caddy so that I could do a cruse mod and have cruse on long trips.
Any suggestions and or input is appreciated!
Thanks
Stephen

I know a fella that has cruise-control in his Caddy. I'll try to find his number and find out what he used. I also would like cruise in my Caddy. I have seen it in Cabbies.

I'm not familiar with the mk1 cruise systems but on the mk2 as far as I know the only difference with the clusters (cruise and non) is the speed pickup. If you look around the area where the speedo cable connects there is an extra connection there for the cruise equipped models. I don't know if the mk1s are the same though.

I have a tranny from a mk1 and there is a bracket mounted to the block with a magnetic pick up on it. It is right over the axel flange and there is a magnet on the flange. Not sure if that is for the cruise or what....
