Gotta get me one of these

We have a decent borescope with built in display at work but they aren't cheap.   Here's one that plugs into your laptop and uses that screen to let you see into places you can't otherwise.   http://www.cyberguys.com/product-details/?productid=52818

Yeah, at the my bro's shop, I've diagnosed two blown head gaskets with the snapon one.

Great tool for the price, compared to the $350 plus for the snapon tool.

How would you be able to diagnose a blown HG with a bore scope? Other than looking at stuff with the naked eye?

Alas that scope not that useful engine wise. You need one with a maximum 6mm head, so you can go through the precup, and into the piston chamber.

You won't see much though. I have the 45* mirror for mine and it is quite difficult to see the entire piston crown through a spark plug hole much less a pre cup opening. And that is with multiple entries with and w/o the 45* mirror. The angle of the angle of the visual field of any bore scope that I have ever seen is quite narrow. I was quite disappointed in what my Snap-Off unit would allow me to see. Now, if it were one of the medical devices that you can twist and turn remotely, it would be MUCH more useful.
