91 jetta td blown?
« on: July 07, 2009, 01:27:09 pm »
So about 4 months ago my buddy blew the transmission in his 91 jetta sent it to his school to have the transmission changed just got it back the other day was driving it home and heading up the highway doing about 100kph she blew! white smoke like 40 feet high and wide filled the highway and she stopped let it cool down and tryed to restart it sounds like it has no compression we see oil all over the injection pump but no hole in the block could it just be a head gasket? also the car was low on coolent so i think it over heated is it possible the head can be that badly warped that it would loose compression? also are the n/a heads the same as the td? im sure the car will need a new head lol thanks dan

i bet that head has been doing crack too. if you ran it long enough that it just stopped, then it got pretty friggen hot. probably gonna have to put a new head on it.

I'd be worried about the condition of the rings as well.. They'd be the next thing that isn;t real happy about being at a cookout...

yea, rings cant really take too much heat. if you heat siezed it then it is almost definitely trash.if you didnt sieze it, then there still may be a chance for the botttom end.
