hi guys,

gonna be changing my fan belt for the 4th time in 12 months as it still squeels like a pig. what exactly should i be chaging in order for the squeeling to stop.

also, am i better off getting a genuine vw kit or will an aftermarket kit do?

thanks

the cars a 96 plate 1.9 td AAZ engine.

how could it possibly need 4 belts in a year??

Why do you figure it needs a new belt? I'm assuming that a new belt will stop the squealing for around 4 months or so? Maybe it just needs to be tightened?

96. is it serpentine? you could have a dragging pully or something, maybe. one thats starting to seize in on of the accessories?

i'm thinking of changing the pulley as this hasnt been changed before.

only a new belt will stop the squeeling but as it dont cost me nothing to have it changed (good old dad!)

am i best to get a genuine pulley or will aftermarket goodies do the job?

also, what do you mean by is it serpentine?

the belt, is it a seprentine belt? (about an inch wide with ribs on the inside)

or V-belt (1/2" and in a v to fit a v groove pulley)

"the cars a 96 plate 1.9 td AAZ engine." Is the engine transverse? whatsa 96 plate? lol

well i mean ok. its more than likely a v belt.. i only asked about serpentine cuz u said it was a 96 plate meaning i thought it was some sort of 1996 with the model name plate.. lol

It could be maybe you are over using your alternator? do you have any big sound mods? amps? subs? anything like that?

squeels on start up most times. i checked the belt and its the toothed serpentine belt. i managed to spray some belt spray and its worked this morning. not sure how long it will last but i got it all over my hands even though it comes with an applicator tube so it doesnt go everywhere!
