Bare block/crank weights
« on: April 14, 2009, 04:32:12 pm »
Kind of a dumb question. Anybody happen to roughly know how much a bare 1.6 block weighs (no rods, no pan, no crank, just block and main caps)?

Also, anyone know how much a 1.6 crank weighs?

I just weighed mine for you. :D

My 1.6 Block without main caps weighs 85 pounds.  I had my engine stand bracket attached to it, which probably weighs 5 pounds, give or take.

The 1.6 crank weighed 32 pounds.

I horked this from another site. It is for our 1.6L diesels. I wouldn't have thought it that much when I carried my engine into the basement, seemed lighter.

Great info gents... given that these beasts are getting rare and shipping is more likely I'll link this from the FAQ.
