will a 1.9 precup fit in a 1.6 head?
i'm pretty sure they're a bit bigger. which is why using the 1.9 head on the 1.6 makes it a little harder to start.
frank06 on TDIclub only does TDI heads though right??? maybe he can get the swirl chambers though?
Nope, he can do both IDI and TDI. You would have to ask him about the swirl chambers though.
ah pretty cool! hopefully he doesn't charge too much. those new chinese heads are very cost effective
Mine hasn't grenaded yet!!!!!! and that's with max stock fueling and ZERO boost control!!! 20 psi regularly.
My vote... for a daily driver the head appears fine... cracks between the valves are smaller than many I've seen (in general a dime is the thickness limit), and the pre-chambers are beginning to show some stress fractures but given how thick they are they probably have many many miles left.
I'd have it surfaced, rebuilt as required (guides, seals, etc) and carry on.
This was the kind of reply I was looking for. Thanks vince. Now, head resurfacing? Machine shop does this I imagine or can I just run a flat block on it with 1000 grit or so, and if it goes to the machine shop do the precups have to come out, and should I peen them in? And if I do, how would I go about doing it.
So many questions... so much left to do.
will a 1.9 precup fit in a 1.6 head?
There are 2 size of 1,9 precup. Other (earlier?) will fit to 1,6 head, but has bigger opening. The other is smaller in diameter and will not fit.
