Dieselsmoke, You make a good point but I have my self been asking for parts for year 00. In this case it is the right motor, if not working right!
Problem still not sorted. Autozone have ordered in two more motors, each one with the cap on the end of the gear missing and one with threads on the positive terminal stripped.
I now have one on order from Napa.

Update
No more hill parking! Had the chance to put in another starter, from Napa this time, and all is functional!
The grind on the tips of the gear are more pronounced on the new motor.
So either the grind or the solinoid was some how failing under load on the Autozone motor.
Its all very frustrating and demoralizing when what should be a simple swap turns into fiasco, especially when its a daily driver and you have limited time and opportunity to work on it,
