Where are you located? Add it in your profile. So you want to run it as a N/A? If that is the case you could save a ton of money by just having your current engine rebuilt. For around 600-1500 dollars you could have yours done up better than what you find on e-bay.
I tried to search and didn't get much because I couldn't figure out how to word the search, so here goes. I bought a 1981 NA vw pickup for two hundred dollars and got it running. after doing a compression check i see one cylinder is pushing only about 230. it runs fine now but I know it will have to be rebuilt soon. the body has almost no rust and i have decided to put some money into it. I found the 1.6 turbo engines on ebay that are brand new. The are just the top and bottom end so I would have to use all of the accessories from my old engine. I don't really want to buy all the extra parts to make my pickup a turbo, and it has enough power for me now anyway. I was wondering if it is possible to run this turbo engine as normally aspirated. I figure a NA with a giles pump should be fine for me. So is it possible? What would I have to do?
