AAZ into a 1.8 CL Gasser
« on: March 16, 2009, 09:46:41 am »
Hey guys!
I picked up 1996 GL. The body is totally shot. But this is the second engine and its an imported AAZ from europe. 250000km and runs fantastic. I want to rebuild it and swap everything into my 2-door CL. I am going to clean the head, all new gaskets, belts, sensors and get the turbo and injectors rebuilt. I think the engine mounting points are identical. I have two of my friends helping me with previous swap experience, but not diesel. My donor car has everything working except for the wipers and blower. How should I go about with wiring? Anyone have a schematic? Do I have to swap gas tanks? Anyone have a quick outline what has to be swapped? Do I run everything through my CL fusebox?

Appreciate all your Help!
Cheers!

If I were you, I would swap the engine and the dash harnesses, and run the Diesel fuse box. The rest of the chassis harness should just plug right into the fusebox, and everything will work like OEM. :)

Also, I would swap the fuel tank as well, since the diesel tank has a much larger opening for the larger diesel fuel nozzles at the gas station.

Swapping the fuel tank especially where the nozzle inlet would require welding now wouldn't it?
