Well, since the b3 is now gone, I'm giving some thought to looking at future projects, etc. and considering selling the motor that I had been building for the b3 wagon that I had here. I don't have pictures right now but will take some and have them up tomorrow on here.
Up for grabs is the following:
-Completely rebuilt and overbored (1st oversize) 1z/AHU shortblock
-Complete 1z/AHU head (not rebuilt at the moment)
-CTN TDI 02j 5 speed manual transmission (in great shape, 120k)
-All accessories for this motor that I have compiled as well as other "new" parts to finish the build.
Why am I not "finishing" it all? Well, I'd never get the money and time invested in the complete longblock and/or complete motor build and since I don't really have a car to put the motor in at the moment (I've got new TDI plans brewing for other future projects) and already have the mTDI in my MK1, I thought I'd do what I could with what I have here at the moment and just sell those other bits. I have had some interested parties in the shortblock itself but honestly...money talks.
So...the details.
1z/AHU Shortblock (Oil pan to top of block complete, no accessories) to include:
-Completely stripped, tanked, acid dipped block it was then sandblasted as well. Engine primer enamel (2 coats) and then 3 coats of Ford Blue engine enamel
-Block was professionally overbored to accomodate the 1st oversize
-Crank polished
-All rods checked and resized properly
-All tolerances measured in spec w/ exc. to overbore.
-Installed ALL OE parts to include:
+Nural/Goetze ALH style pistons in the first oversize (+.05)
+Main Bearings with non-integrated thrust bearing (6pc)
+Rod bearings
+All seals to include int. shaft, front and rear mains, mains to block, etc
+New windage tray for oil pan
+New oil pan
+New crankshaft sprocket bolt (of course)
Shortblock is complete right now (no accessories) and ready to go.
Additionally, I have a complete 1z/AHU head that is in good shape, no bent valves. Was for the top end of this project. Have injectors (good for mTDI, 3rd injector needle lift sensor cable was cut by PO).
For the head, I also have finished parts for the build such as:
-A set of raceware head studs
-blasted/primed and painted (Ford Blue) valve cover
-blasted/primed and painted (Ford Blue) injector hold downs
-blasted/primed and painted (Ford Blue) cam sprocket, int. sprocket, IP sprocket maybe too
-blasted/primed and painted (black) crankshaft sprocket and power steering sprocket
I also have all accessories for the shortblock as well. Including:
-blasted/primed/painted 1z/AHU accessory bracket with good tensioner assembly (bracket is painted in cast aluminum)
-blasted/primed/painted 1z/AHU oil filter flange and stock sandwich
-water pump (complete and used with less than 2k on it)
New parts I have sitting to go on the motor for it's finished build include:
-Complete head set with head gasket (2 notch, plus valve cover gasket set, valve stems seals, cam seals, etc. etc.)
-Complete OEM timing belt set (Conti timing belt, OEM tensioner, Conti serp accessory belt and power steering belts....ALL NEW)
Drivetrain wise:
- 1 120k CTN TDI 02j tranny in good order
- 1 SACHS VR6 clutch kit with less than 2k on it
May also consider selling:
- Holset HX25 turbocharger that I was going to run on the b3 version. Very close in size to my Merc turbo that I'm running on the MK1 on the cold side, but flow MUCH better than a T3 and this baby has the nice and small holset 6cm housing on the hot side (its a T25 flange for the inlet)
To give you an idea...
The compressor wheel on the HX25 is slightly larger than the GT20 Garretts but according to Holset it flows around 0.22kg/s or 30lb/min. Not bad at all. This will be a nice breathing little spool monster
which was the idea for the b3's build since I was going for a blend of power, performance and economy instead of just all out power.
Also have:
- Stock IDI TD exhaust manifold
- ATP backset "t3" 8v manifold (same thing I have on my Mk1 mTDI
Hmm...maybe more to come. Its a feeler, looking for interest while I get bearings on prices. Lowballers need not inquire.
