To be honest, I'm quite underwhelmed with the stock TD intake manifold.  I always thought it looked like a restrictive little POS...and I never liked the tight tiny elbow on top of it.

My biggest fear is that a gasser intake manifold wouldn't clear the egr port on a vnt manifold.

you know, those were my thoughts exactly.. i mean c'mon, the intake runners are right angles on stock turbo intakes. and the outter ports are way starved for air. the gasser mani has an actual plenum going across all the runners. and the plenum is wide open, just like a ricer turbo intake would be. and the intake and turbo dont clear if you dont mod them a little. i had to shorten the top stud on the egr port and cut a mounting boss off the intake manifold. its a really tight fit, they only have about an 8th inch between them. but there is space none the less. it works wonderfully for me. the mk1 gasser manifolds might not have the mounting boss. ive never taken the one off my other rabbit to look. i know i would sure have alot shorter intake pipes than i do now.
