OMFG!!! I am sick to my stomach! I hope you were not injured! I have been in two accidents in the last 2 years with my MKII Diesel.

The 1st one, my passenger side front fender and door were dented up, when a SUV came over on me as I was passing him. His insurance co. totalled my MKII and gave me a check for $1000. I also got to keep the car and the insurance co. never asked for the title.

The 2nd time, an old man backed into my driver side right behind the door but in front of the rear wheel. I got another check for $1000 from his insurance co. and got to keep the car.

NOTE: Neither of these accidents were bad, like yours. Just fender benders. Car was driveable in both accidents and I am still driving it today! It has some battle wounds, but hey, 45-48mpg I'll drive it till I die!

Would like to see more pics of your ride and a story.

Also, make sure you tell the insurance co. that you would like to keep the car. They should sell it back to you for under $500. You will want to keep that engine for your next project. Or you could sell it to me! :) :)

You could try and gather "comperable sales" data from here, the vortex, the samba, and ebay.  The resale value of the vw diesel has gone up quite a bit in the last year or so.  You ( or your Mom) could also make up the difference by suing the pants off the other drivers insurance company.

Perhaps you could list up what you had and people could look around while they are browsing.
