Hello all,
I am new to diesels but have had Rabbits for several years(14).
My injection pump has suddenly developed a leak out of the tube as shown in the picture.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
RJ
You have a leaking LDA... the part of the pump that senses increased boost and instructs the pump to add more fuel.
The Bosch seal kit is part # 1 467 010 059 (or so my notes show)... you can pull the lid off the top of the pump while it is still in the car and rebuild on a workbench.
Having said that... one thing to consider is that other seals are likely the same age and may well start to go... if you have time you might to take the opportunity to do the whole pump... the kit with the rest of the seals is part #DGK 126.
If you search here and at
www.vwdieselparts.com you'll find lots of conversations about rebuilding the pump, including a pictoral of how to put it back together... although I've never seen a HOW-TO on the LDA.
(edit: ah ha... I see Andrew just pointed you to one}
ah crap.....well thanks for the help guys.
another quick question....
the engine pictured is a solid lifter NA engine with all the TD stuff on it. The original TD engine is on the floor. I can rebuild the block but sadly the head is a boat anchor. Is the NA head the same as the TD head? They are both solid lifter units.....
Thanks.
RJ
Hey Vincent, better amend your notes.
Andrew
You trust Tintin more than me ? Shocked... shocked I am.
I'm about to order some so I'll get confirmation on the real number... but yeah take his word on it... anyone who knows the exact part number for the o-ring probably has the right kit number too !
Well, I know he has ESI which is the Bosch Bible.
Yeah... I will have truly achieved Nirvana when I have my own copy of ESI.
I realize this is an old thread but I found some versions of ESI for download.
(location deleted by mean moderator, since ESI is a commercial program and this site intends to stay squeaky-clean in that department)
This is the last kit that I bought that has the seal you need.

I can't remember, but I think its the smallest seal in the bag, green in color. Hope this helps.
