Question on a service manual
« on: February 18, 2009, 03:54:32 pm »
Hey Guys, I recently bought a 2001 Beetle TDI. So one of the first things I did was look on Ebay at the Bently manuals that were available. You've probably looked at that Ebay search -- they have several sellers that offer DVD's , CD Roms, etc, Bently and otherwise. There was one that looked really good, extensive, detailed, just what I wanted, so I got it for $20. When it came, I could see that it is probably official Volkswagen material that was produced in Germany - in German and English. The seller offers many other manuals on Ebay, so this is his business. My question is: Are you familiar with this one, and do you think it's pirated? If so, how do you feel about using this from an ethical standpoint?  I would rather not use it if it is illegal or unethical -- I emailed the seller back basicly asking the same thing and all he said was he would refund the money if I was not satisfied with the manual....What do you think, have you run into this type of thing, and what would you do? Thanks, Dan

bentley publishers wouldn't sell the manual for $20.  here's the link and it's $99.

if indeed the software is pirated, that seller could be into some serious trouble...
