I am planning on timing my injection pump but didnt have an indicator long enough so I made a special adapter with its own spring loaded plunger so I can get a reading from outside the pump. Anyways I took out the bolt to find out what kind of threads I need to cut and then I put the bolt back in. When work was over I tried to start my car and nothing and it seemed like it wasnt getting any fuel. I am wondering if you need to bleed any lines because the pump lost pressure or is there anything special you need to do? I got the instructinos from my haynes manual and it didnt say anything just take the bolt out. Any help is appreachated, I really need to get the car running again so I need help asap.
Thanks.
Maybe you lost the crush washer and fuel is leaking out.
See any fuel leaking from around the injection pump timing hole bolt?
Or maybe all the fuel ran out while you had the bolt out and you need to prime the pump ... sometimes the vanes aren't good enough to prime the pump.
Check to see if any fuel is coming out the return line on top of the pump while cranking.
Didn't accidently unplug the power wire from the pump did you?
ended up getting it work, I did loose the copper bushing but I put the bolt in anyways and my friend and I began cracking open the lines on the injectos to bleed the fuel lines. It didnt work out quite as well as we hoped so we grabbed a vacuum pump the one you use for break lines and blend the return fuel line just before the fuel filter. car seems to be running alright so far, I will take it for a test tommorow.
