My new build starts with the block heater really well and doesn't smoke when hot.
I tried it cold (5 degrees C) and it made a LOT of white and ran really rough. Made me want to hold the idle high with the pedal but it still burnt white.
How long should i hold the GP's on on a cold start up once it's already running?
I roughly changed the timing from so retarded it needed the cold start out to run to possibly much too advanced?
any ideas?
Even if the excessive white is normal, how can i fix the rough idle? it already idles high when hot.
I can post a video on request.
i'd use the idle speed boost adjuster on the pump so for cold starts you can just give it a boost that way, and then turn it down when the motor is warmed up.
with 1.9's the GP's can stay on for a minute or two after you start the engine. i think it works in conjunction with how cold it is outside... i'd go manual GP control if i were you.
Sounds like it is still a little retarded to me.
i pushed the pump really really far forward... maybe it still needs more...
I already have a manual system. I made a post of it on here...
Just using the cold start lever isn't enough to get rid of the white plume. If i push the lever in it shutters and almost stalls.
Maybe my IP is out a tooth.
well they are new rings, right. You need to "goose it up and romp on it"In the words of my father.
Ahhh. Thanks fellas.
I guess i won't run it anymore until it's insured then.
i pushed the pump really really far forward
What's that mean,... forward where?
Leaning the top of the pump toward the head advances timing.
