Where are the coolant glow plug relays located in '96 Passat? I measured all plugs, these are fine.

When it gets below -10C, Passat never warms to normal temperatures, ~75C max... Lower coolant hose is cold...

Not sure if they were installed on the earlier ones. If you do have them they will be on the output coolant flange on the side of the head. they are facing behind.

Yes, I found the plugs and measured those. But can´t find the relays or fuses.

I have the info buried somewhere in my garage , but i'm pretty sure the relay will be under the hood somewhere. If it's like the Jetta, there will be a strip fuse like the one for the glow plugs. There will also be a 3 pin connector, two big gauge wires going to both sides of the fuse and two more wires which are the ones that go to the glow plugs [for the relay to operate 1,2 or all 3 GP's].

I don't get what you mean.

well maybe i didn't word it right :oops: since you don't have an ECU, could you not just make it work with the relay's only? or do they require input from the ECU? i'm looking at getting the coolant glow plugs hooked up in the future, and will be setting them up completely independant. possibly using a coolant sensor to control them.

problem the relay gets a ecu voltage i.e. 5 v to trigger it. for less money i can get 2 relays ,one 30 amp and one 40 amp and control them either at the same time or seperately . That way i can do the same as the oem one works-1 , 2 or all 3 PG s lighting up.
