Is there any difference between those regarding performance? It will be used in a mTDI, moderately tuned to say 130-150 Hp

The 1.6 manifold will need the ports modified. The AAZ and TDIs all have a D shaped port whereas the 1.6 ports are smaller and oval shaped.

In addition to the "D" shape thing : both AAZ and 1.6 inlet manifolds seem to have a diameter restriction where the elbow is bolted and this might be a bottleneck to performance.

Thanks. So a PD 130 or 150 would be the best of VAG manifolds
produced in high numbers?

im not so sure, i went for aaz and matched the ports. i think it has more volume than the others
a friend of mine that works at a tuning company tells me that the 90 degree bend that the air must take is not as much of an issue, will only be 1 or 2 hp difference
but ive been wrong before though

... not sure we're writing about the same thing ?
With pictures. The 1600 TD is on the left and the AAZ one on the right.
The AAZ does not need porting at mine (the AHU head needs porting in comparison) ... but where the elbow is bolted (below both 1600 JR and 1900 AAZ)
the oval section is equivalent to that of a 37,4 mm diameter "pipe" - a restriction when compared to the 50+ mm diameter intake.
Possibly the elbow itself is not something of an issue ... but the intake diameter of the AAZ seems bigger
- my 2 cents

sorry i ment the 90 degree at the bottom of the manifold that all manifolds have unless you make a custom one, doesnt the air loose a certain percentage of flow for every corner it takes, but then you can reduce the loss by widening the pipe bla bla bla a mate of mine is into mechanical science and he told me loads of stuff to make intercoolers more efective ive forgoten most of it. im just woffeling
id go AAZ, because you dont have to piss about with the pop off valve and will be easyer to match the ports, tbh my 1Z head is pretty much the same ports as the AAZ, isnt yours?

According to your remains, the combination elbow/restriction would thus cause a double trouble. Well I do not care - the pictured AAZ manifold I retained for my mTDI composition - but I felt it was worth mentionning ...
... also - I just meant the moldings of "my" AHU head seem very "poor" and it would definitely support some porting work. "My" AAZ head looks much better in that area and yes 1900 engine ports should match - as far as I know.
