• I just found out that my transmission in my 97 Jetta AAZ is kaput and I'm looking for a newish one to get me back on the road.  Most people are telling me its an diesel specific 02A, and others are telling me its a cable clutch 020.  The car is currently not with me so I can't check yet so I'm hoping someone can chime in and let me know what I should be looking for.

• Look on the bottom of your bellhousing for the 3 digit/letter code. It is about 6 or 7mm tall and near the edge that bolts to the engine, although on the bottom where the engine block does not touch.

• Yup, standard issue for Canadian MK3 with an AAZ.
