What do you mean by "hydraulic brakes" here? Pretty much every automotive braking system is either hydraulic or cable, and cable brakes went out a loooooooooooong time ago...  :?

He means Hydraulically Boosted Brakes, instead of a vacuum booster the brakes are boosted using hydraulic pressure from the power steering pump. They do exist, I had an Audi 200 Quattro and and a 1979 Chevy Diesel Pickup that had Hydro Brakes. The Audi design was horrible, the Chevy was actually excellent, worked really well.

If I remember right from my wrecking yard days, The 4000 Quattro and Quattro Coupe used the same Hydro Booster as the 5000 and the 4000 Non-Quattro coupes and sedans used the same vacuum booster as the VW Quantum for both the 4 and 5 cyl engines.
