Air in fuel?  Even one of the small injector jumpers letting air into the system will give exactly your symptoms.

Cranking speed?  It should whirr, not chug chug when cranking.

The advance on the IP worked great ... today was cool and it started no CSV so I am happy.  The engine smoothed out and power went up.  I think come spring once the bike is on the road it is timing belt time plus all the seals.  Man am I happy right now, starts great.
