Head Temperature?

Anyone have a rough guess to the nomal operating temps of the outside of the head?  I'm looking at doing this "G2 epoxy" crap thats meant for brake caliper coating and is good to 980 degrees. . . I really dont think the head should get that toasty, but I would love if anyone could confirm this with an IR thermometer or something.

Maybe around the exhaust ports during a hard pull but other than that no freakin way.

250 tops I'll bet.

Aluminum melts at 660.32 °C, 1220.58 °F ... 900 is getting up there for the actual temp of the head. The air exiting it may get there but not for long. like zukgod1 said maybe on a hard pull and only the tips of the exhaust ports.
It it were that close no one would make allum heads. I think you're in the clear.

not to mention what would happen to the coolant/water mix at 900F!

hopefully it can all end when you guys get a decent president in office.. also to take care of that piss poor health care system you guys have too. quite a few people got and are getting rich off of it.  :(

At the risk of turning this into a political forum...a few comments.

First of all, I think most of our friends south of the border have long since concluded that the invasion of Iraq was a mistake and that they were mislead. Hence President Bush's rock bottom poll numbers.

As the Bush Administration is discovering, it's very easy to send troops into a country. It's  much more difficult to extricate, or withdaw, them.Indeed, as you're. no doubt. aware, we have that problem here in Canada.

It was easy for Chretien and the Liberals to send the troops to Afghanistan, albeit as part of a NATO mission.

It was easy for Paul Martin, and the Liberals, to agree to transfer the troops from an essentially peace-keeping mission in Kabul, to a combat role in Kandahar.

The Present Conservative Government is left with the problem of withdrawal. They're damned if they do and damned if they don't.

If they wish to pull out the troops, they'll be subjected to pressure from the other NATO members, to remain, there will be outrage and accusations that all those Canadian soldiers died "for nothing". They'll be accused of having "failed" and "lost" the war and for leaving a void for the Taliban to move back in.

If the agree to leave the troops in Afghanistan, they'll be called  "warmongers", "toadies" of the Americans, "clones of G. Bush", etcetera. They can't win.

As I said, easy to send the troops in, very difficult to pull them out.

Back to Iraq...

You're right, the Iraq invasion was to control the oil (Operation Iraqui Liberation  :) But it was also about Israel.

Iraq was Israel's enemy (as is Iran, hence the latest push to attack Iran).

Check out all the big "pushers" for the Iraq invasion: Richard Perle, Douglas Feith, Paul Wofowitz, Irving Libby, Irving Kristol, et al...all Israel- firsters and Israeli citizens.

I could go on at some length about this, but it should be cut short.

Just one more point...

Americans should be cautious about Barack Obama as some sort of answer to everything; a sort of panacea personified.

People can rarely live up to the expectations

A case in point: Paul Martin who turned out to be so indecisive as to earn the nickname "Mr. Dithers".

Anyway, I'll shut up now :) .

Leave politics off the board.  We don't tell you who to vote for in your elections and don't you tell us who to vote for in ours.  This type of discussion has no place here.
