MkII jetta vs Acura EL

last night cruising through barrie, met one of my friends driving around in his acura 1.6 El. He honks and flashes me, and I figure nothing of it, as I had 3 other people in the car with me, after cruising 2 wide for a few minutes without hitting a stop light the inevitable happened, a red light,, we both nodded to each other, and I started to wind the diesel up, by the time the light turned yellow for the other lanes, I had it sitting at 4000 rpm, wiht the turbo just a screamin, soon as the light changed I was gone, and I mean gone, that acura was basically "asleep at the tree" had him all the way into 4th gear not to mention hea had all his window down so I completely filled his car wiht smoke, at which point I turned off onto A side street, because we were in a fairly busy area, and didn't want to further attract attention, first victory of the vee-dubster, and hopefully one of many more to come.

You don't rev a VW diesel, you increase the clatter.

a hell of alot of acceleration happens, because my tires are basically slicks they only chirped a little instead of spining away into a smoking oblivion.

with just me in my jetta, at high rpm ( i dunno what, i dont have a gauge) it will go to red line and just sit there slowly moving forward with the speedo reading 30km/hr++++ while im in 1st.  I can sometimes then shift into 2nd and keep it going but then i start to move forward and the tires grab.

Try it.
