So I was doing some research and I found a place that will make some MLS gaskets for our 1.6 diesels!!!
these would be VERY nice multi-layer steel gaskets just like the 1.9's run!
no filling or blocking or modding at all!!! 8)  8)  :!:

now the problem is they dont make them for the 1.6 yet
I asked them what it would take to get them on board and they said it would take a order of about 150 gaskets! :( (dang that's a lot of gaskets!!)

just wanted to throw this out there to see if you all would be interested in one and if you would buy one if they came available?? he said they would be about $90 each...

thoughts??

Ummm, the 1.9 gasket is a drop in for hydraulic 1.6's. I get them for $30 and they are the 100% metal ones so I 'm not sure there really is a market for $90 ones but then I don't run a mechanical 1.6 so my opinion is pretty irrelevent.

I'd buy 2 since you should always have a spare head gasket available in a pinch, never know when you will need one.

'06 Golf TDI traded in for a '12 Jeep Rubicon (the Phatbox is available)
'91 Jetta TD, a work in progress (I'll do a build thread when I start in earnest)
'65 Notchback, a project not yet started

This would have been nice before I welded up my block and head.

Hell I paid $50.00 to have the head welded up then paid $40.00 to have it machined flat (which it didn't need aside from the newly welded hole)..

What about the thickness ranges? Will they need 150 of each thickness?

I'd be in for 2. After the initial run of 150 would they carry stock regularly or is this a one-time deal? Also wondering about the availability of various thicknesses.
