Water cooled turbo
« on: October 02, 2008, 07:11:52 pm »
I have a water cooled turbo that i will be running. Anyone got any good ideas on where to pick up and return the water at? Concerns are overheating the turbo before the thermostat opens.

PS.

broke the water pump housing while putting the bolt back in. Impact gun was on to high....

Let the flamming begin. Actually looks like it was originally jb welded.

what are the details on the water cooled turbo ? GT-123 ?

Wel, if it was jb welded before, time to get a new one anyway.

On my SB/RA 1.6TD with watercooled Garret T2 the inlet comes from a feed near the a housing on the front of the block (where thye temp senders live), and the return goes into a pipe half way down the back of the block.

dont know if this helps??

Flaming? If I was nearer I'd cut your air hose through.

td04 off a subaru wrx.

hoping i can pull off head, and return at the same spot as the heater core.

although maybe i will come out of the heater core to the turbo, then return where the heater core does

Either way, still gettting hot water to the turbo. wish there was a way to get cooler.

Maybe, never thought about drilling the water jacket. I will have to take a look. see if 1/4 or 3/8 npt will work there.

Good suggestion
