Which pump.

Hello.
I'm trying to collect as more infos as possible. I don't know if there are news or other infos in other threads.

I have a few reports back that the Fiat Chroma pump is almost right and is a fairly bolt on affair.

I think to have found the hybrid pump you talked about.

--- Quote ---Anyway, Im running a VW T3 with a 1Z with mechanical injection...
This hybrid pump of mine consist of..
Ford escort 1.8d injection pump body.
20mm drive shaft.
TDI cam plate.
Perkins Prima Head and rotor (11mm)
Transporter 1.6td governor body and LDA.
pump timing set to .9mm lift at TDC
.205 injectors (110hp)
--- End quote ---

T3 LDA is different from others so if you use it you'll get a hybrid pump.
By using a Croma pump you must not to purchase a pump like the Ford one and the Prima one,you already have got a 20mm shaft and part from a DI pump with a 11mm head and rotor.
A Prima pump and a Croma pump share the same camplate.
The problem is to know how to make the pump works fine. I don't know it.
There are anorther example of T3 running on Croma pump and the owner isn't sotisfied.

not impressed with the results.

This is a good pump, 20mm shaft, 11mm plunger, proper boost pin...

There are some pices of advice.

--- Quote from: Tintin on October 19, 2006, 06:36:14 pm ---This pump, ............ 414 059, is installed on FIAT croma 1.9 TD i.d. 1988 to 1992, and on the croma 2.5TD 1989 and 1990,   and some croma 2.0 TD i.d.

With larger injector nozzle, this pump works well, the cam plate is not the best for the engine VW TDI, but rather good, one can located between the cam plate of AAZ and TDI.

If not, you can put the cam plate of VW TDI in your fiat pump, but as regards the control lever, that will be one can limiting, but it will go it much better is a fact.

That would be good to replace the advance timing piston, and the cap, because that of pump FIAT does not offer much displacement.

Unfortunatrely I can't understand everything because the language and no techinal skills.

--- Quote from: scopefrfd on October 20, 2006, 08:43:16 pm ---I'm using a croma pump....out of the box...it will run great until 3K...then it starts shutting down right?

It's the governor.....and rotate the fuel pin or get an aftermarket pin like I did to get more fuel under boost.  The governor is one big spring...I bound a few of the coils with some fine stainless steel wire and now it flies.

I'm also running ,205's and that seems plenty I can make it smoke like a pig if I want.  I can get to 100mph in no time...turbo will affect performance..alot of people get the t3 from a 1.6td...I'm using a smaller k14 running to 22psi max..intercooled of course

I found four Croma pumps instead of three so I looked at the  ASSEMBLY OF SERVICE PARTS PUMP HOUSING (N.800 on the diagram) and
DRIVE SHAFT(N.12 on the diagram) to be sure that the fourth pump can fit like the others.
Only the first Croma pump has got different pump housins and  drive shaft.
What does it take to make a customized pump?

--- Quote from: Tintin on November 25, 2006, 06:07:08 pm ---...
you will need another control lever, régulator valve, advance timing mechanism, etc...

It is really difficult to mount a mechanical pump with parts of 3-4 different pump, and the adjustment is not also simple for going well.

I'll try to use the same words used on pump diagram.
N.95 FULCRUM LEVER(I think it's the control lever,am I wrong?)
N.68 PART LOAD GOVERNOR(Is it the control lever? I know it takes to find the right spring too but the uploaded infos for finr tuning disappeared)
N.29 CAM PLATE
N.50 HYDRAULIC HEAD(If it needed, for exemple using a pump from ID o for extreme tuning)
For timing we need piston,springs,shims... I think parts from N.31 to N.37

TIMING-DEVICE PISTON        31
SLIDING PIECE        32
SHIM RING     33
 COMPRESSION SPRING,   34
COMPRESSION SPRING    34
SHIM RING    35
CLOSING COVER  37
N.135 CONTROL VALVE
Anything else?
N.813 ASSEMBLY OF SERVICE PARTS GOVERNOR SHAFT Explanations? Or not?
Other parts? N.88 ADJUSTING SCREW? Or not?
Of course the right LDA pin in case of turbo.
