M-TDI + Nitrous

Hi, I'm having a project in mind, adding some nitrous to my car, 1.9 1z\ahu m-tdi, just to make it a "surpriser" :)

Anyhow, anyone in here tried it? I'm seriously thinking about ordering a nitrous kit, so if anyone has ANY experience with it, please come forward.

And tell me, will the engine take it? "I'm not looking for a complete overboost psycho 400hp" but had something about +30-50hp in mind..

thinking more on this topic... if you have it mTDI, then you will need to find a way to add LOTS of fuel when the nitrous kicks on, otherwise it won't do much other than clear up some exhaust smoke.  sort of like adding a very large and super efficient intercooler system.  i'm pretty sure the car in the video has electronics to automatically adjust the fueling (and was possibly mapped) to give the extra power.

well you cud just pump diesel though a petrol injector in the inlet manifold it wont atomise but it shud still burn with nos. 400bhp wudnt do a 1Z any good, at around 230bhp the block will start to twist and will blow the head gasket and if you want that sort of power u should get it out of sum big injectors and a big VNT with a few other mods

if you want 400bhp u will need a PD and sum serious kit, and then a new gear box every month

.... that has to be the worst advice I have ever read.... "if I'm reading it right". dumping a diesel through the intake (inlet) manifold, would put diesel in the cylinder , that will combust when the air in the cylinder reaches the right temperature, causing a uncontrolled timing situation a lot of knock, and possibly destroying your engine....

It would be better to inject either propane or meth/water. Neither of these fuels should burn at the temperature the engine reaches before the diesel is injected. Look it up it's a fairly common way of getting serious power gains. like jtanguay said without the fuel nitrous can only help burn the fuel thats in the chaimber.... but I do think it's an option for anyone who dumps a lot a black smoke out their tails at WOT... as theirs a lot of unrealized potential in that exhaust.

PS sorry to  "oldskool rich" if I read that wrong. If I did you might want to clarify what you meant.

no its fine, i stand corrected, i dont know much about nos i just assumed that it wud work, when my turbo died and chucked all my oil into the engine and it reved it tits off it ran ok apart from the fire cuming out. so i just assumed that diesel would be the same.

what mix of methanol and water? i am intreasted in running methanol injection but dont know how i should run the set up though? also how much should be used each time? i hav plenty of methanol for biodiesel, wud be a shame not to use it  8)

It's a really easy setup. much easier than many of the other hp gaining mods. Here is my favorite website "with respect to meth injection" http://www.turbomirage.com/water.html.

Have the NOS and propane kick in at the same time and you'd be set. have it set up on a WOT switch with an additional switch on the dash so the dash switch has to be on and the pedal matted for the NOS/pane to come on.

and throw in a bit of water\meth to lower the sky high egt's. and you'll be making awesome power until you bend a rod.

and some meth/water to keep the EGT's low. So a mix of Meth/water/Propane/Nitrous (tuned properly) could be the ultimate in power.

you could do it similiar to the "Zex" nitrous systems where the pressure of the bottle is used to increase fuel pressure via a fuel pressure regulator....the pressure acts directly on the FPR diaphragm pushing it down increasing fuel pressure and thus fuel....you may be able to plumb the nitrous to the boost aneroid but your aneroid may already be maxed out during full boost....just an idea!! :D
