Metal head gasket on solid 1.6 head
« on: September 09, 2008, 10:39:30 pm »
Ok, I know I've seen it before, but I have searched way too long for and am coming up short here.

1. Where the hell can I get a metal head casket in the US?!?!

2. What are people using to block the illusive extra hole in the aaz gasket?

Thanks

I think that you can get the head gasket from MykeW the moderator on here or autohaus...
This has been discussed on here some, I would do a search for frankenmotor or 1.9L metal head gasket fix, or wait and see if someone will respond fast enough for you.
Hope I could help.

i think that is just it... that the new AAZ are just like the TDI (1Z/AHU)... if anyone cares to confirm the p/n's

Exactly. The TDI head gasket will NOT work on an IDI. Only the AAZ unit will. Part numbers are different.

Then why does it work on my 1.6l IDI?
I got a 1.9 TDI gasket. I'm sure of it... i asked to look at one, and its metal, it does however look like that picture there

My car is currently using it...i drove it today

I am really confused...

I compared the 1.6 HG and the 1.9 HG at my vw import shop in Abbotsford and they were identical.... completely identical...
no holes covered, no extra holes, same bore

maybe i actually got an aaz HG?
I didnt do any modifications to anything for it i just threw it on there and torqued it down
