hey

does anyone know how much boost a stock 1.6td head will take on the standard fibre gasket? ive heard the head lifts at 2 bar will the gasket support that pressure

also how much boost can be run on a t3 or k24? :D

how much power have people seen

get head studs & a metal head gasket and you could probably go upwards of 30 psi...

i just had to change back to fibre gasket because the 1.9 gasket was giving a  crap burn, loads of black smoke. fine now with the fibre gasket

what is the best metal gasket to use
mk2 8v gti converted to IDI

black smoke couldn't be from the gasket, only if using the wrong size or some other detail.
in fact, if it doesn't burn completely, you will have white smoke, black is when there isn't enough air to burn all the diesel.

after finishing the car i drove it for one week and it smoked so bad even with the fuel turned right down, i ended up changing the head gasket for other reasons back to a fibre one and it ran sweet.

looking back tho i had used an ahu gasket not an aaz one?

Maybe you had the IP off a tooth or something.?

I'm still running a metal on mine, just went from a 3 notch to a 1 notch when I re-ringed it..

Anyway, I see no reason how or why a head gasket would cause blk smoke.
