Found this locally to me im thinking of putting it in my caddy,is it a straight swap/will i need a new gearbox/tranny,the caddys allready fitted with a seat diesel engine.

I'm curious  Stewardc, did you use the serpentine belt setup? WIll it fit, or did you have to use the older v belt setup. MY jetta has been done with v belts, I've got a golf here and a complete 1.9 setup (with serpentine ) that might wind up in the Golf......

Yes, indeed, I used the complete serpentine belt setup. It's soooooo much better than the v-belt.
