The intake and exhaust manifolds are different as is the oil filter flange, turbo oil supply line and turbo oil return.  I think you will have clearance issues.

Post a pic of the turbo side of the engine with the manifolds showing.  It looks like you have the longitudinal manifold on there and you will have interference issues.

Yes Andrew, it does appear to have a low mounted turbo..
92 Jetta GLI - Black, 1.6D w/ GT2056V turbo..
86 GTI - 4 Door, Med Twilight Gray, Tow Machine..
86 Audi Coupe GT - Tornado Red, All Stock.. WRECKED.
89 Toyota 4Runner - Dark Grey Metallic, LIFTED!

Turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.

I think it might look like a low mounted turbo because the engine is on the ground and is on an angle... From the techincal drawings i think it is definatly a "top mounted' turbo

here is another pic and you can see the turbo is clearly above the intake manifold

Pics of each side of the engine from about 4 feet away would be best.
