1.6 td not running properly
« on: July 12, 2008, 03:17:30 pm »
i turn the key and it runs fine, then after reving it a little it starts to splutter a bit. wen i get it out on the road, its pretty slugish although at the same time it boosts up to about 20-25 psi and judders alot, feels like its missfiring realy badly, also produces white/grey smoke

im running aaz injectors and ive bent the fuel lines slightly to make them fit, is this my problem or sumthing worse?

im at my witts end with this car, i just want it to work, can i use n/a injectors if aaz are no good?

I've done a lot of bending of my fuel lines, more than just a little, and it had no effect on the engine. I think your problem must be something else.

White/grey??? Are you pulling air into that pump?

duno now you mention it, that might make sence, where might the air be getting in?

cudnt be a bent valve or sumthing cud it?

after the engine is off you can see a few bubbles going up the fuel pipe, is that bad?  the faster you go the more it strugles

ive been working on this pretty much none stop for over a week now, this car is haunted :(

Well, all the usual spots. Hose clamps, hose with pin hole or cracks, copper washers if old style fuel filter, line from the tank. I've never really had a pump draw air, but I think some guys do experience that.

It just sounds like air coming in. I'll sell you a gasser.....yuk!
