max tire size for an A3
« on: May 27, 2008, 10:50:43 pm »
Looking to take advantage of gearing for my highway cruising.  May not be much of an fuel economy increase but since I need new tires anyway.  What's the largest diameter tires people have fitted to their A3.  I wanted to try 185/75/14 but taking a few quick measurements it looks like it will hit the spring seat.  Anyone have any real world experience?  I know some have been running 185/65/14 no problem and I think I heard someone running 185/70/14.  This would be using stock alloy wheels from a 94 jetta.

I don't know personally but I know that if you go to any tire shop they can look up what the maximum is. My friend just did the same thing and put 22s on his truck. Now he looks dumb.
