Timing Belt
« on: June 03, 2004, 07:56:25 am »
Hi Guys;

 I'm going to replace the timing belt in my '99 TDI (A3). It currently has 192 Kmeters on it. I don't see anything in the records that it has been done before, so I'm going to do it before I need some valves or an engine also. I have heard something about making sure the crank pulley goes back on properly (for obvious reasons). Can any one tell me what kind of trouble people are having with it, and any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

 Also, I seem to hear some complaints about the electronics on these things, what kind of problems are people experiencing with them also? So far ours seems great. My wife has put 25 K's on it already.

 I also have to do the intake cleaning, I don't think that has ever been done before on this car, and it must be clogged a third of the way. Stupid EGR valve! Any way around this EGR valve?

Thanks;

Jason, check out the TDI FORUM. There are plenty of threads dealing with timing belt changes, as well as FAQs and even videos.
