86 golf starting problems

im having a problem with my 86 diesel golf. for awhile now the only way i am able to start the car is by pop starting it.  i have someone push the car with their car for a distance.  im not a car expert and i was just wondering how many explanations there would be for the car not starting normally.

Hi there,

Could be several things, I'll touch on a few here.

Fuel filter plugged

Air filter plugged

Glow plugs fried, relay fried etc.


These are the most common, check and report back..
