there are 2 wires that are on my pump (AAZ)
standing infront of the car the wire closes to me i took off and let hang lose, now i then hooked a wire from the terminal to the other wire that close to the fuel screw so.....so i bridged the 2 selinods with the one wire and theres just a wire that hangs that attached to nothing
IS THIS RIGHT? MAKE SENCE! KINDA HARD TO EXPLAIN! THE ONLY THING I REALLY NOTICE IS MY RPMS WHEN IM AT IDLE ARE ALITTLE LOW
NORMAL BEFORE 850-875
NOW 800
WHAT DID I DO WRONG OR IS THAT JUST WHAT ITS SUPOST TO DO
ALSO I TOOK THAT THING THAT ATTACHED TO THE THROTTLE THAT GOT A SWITCH IN IT OFF AND ITS JUST HANGING NOW!
SOUND RIGHT??
Yep, wire the two solenoids together to get power from the ignition, switch goes to nothing.
that second selenoid is a advance-controller-thingy isn't it?
IIRC there are two different styles and purpose of these things.
Not sure if they are BOTH for warm up and advance, but I know one is. I think one is a heated style that takes a few minutes and the other is an electronic solenoid.
Someone must have more info on the two different designs than I...
Conventional wisdom seems to be that the solenoid on the front of the pump *retards* timing slightly, as part of the emissions control schema on that pump (throttle switch, damper, etc).
Ergo, most people just leave it disconnected permanently and just run one wire to the fuel cutoff solenoid... that's what I've been doing and so far no ill effects.
I think the one on the front of the pump is for light load timing retarding. It's for emmisions and fuel economy. *I think*
