engine oil pressure control unit

can some one please enlighten me as to where this oil pressure control unit is.Ive put a 86 ME into an 87 4runner.I want to keep as many of the vw engine control functions as possible.I know the engine has oil press. swithes for .3 bar and 1.8bar for the one in the head,but how does this work/Im not seeing a relay for it.Is this just for the light in the dash?

It's part of the circuitry of the cluster.

Does this work in conjuction with the alternator excitor wire?I see a line going to the w term. on the alternator.like it needs to see that theres press. before it starts to draw from the alt.Is this correct?

Yup it does.  The cluster circuit uses engine RPM to decide when to start looking at the sensor on the filter flange.... at around 2000 RPM.  Below that speed the sensor would give a false positive reading so it's ignored by the cluster circuitry.
