$5.00 Gallon Diesel good for Old VW Diesel Prices on eBay?
« on: June 01, 2008, 12:43:22 pm »
VW diesel car prices on eBay have gone nuts in the last couple of weeks. Don't get me wrong, I love my MKII and wouldn't sell it for $20K but at the same time I don't think I'd pay these prices for it either. Seems even with diesel at $5.00 people are looking to pay a premium for VW Diesels. We were thinking about  selling the 03 TDI wagon and I put it on eBay, auction closed at $7350, had a reserve of $9800, it's odd even though the demand is up older cars are getting some high prices. Some interesting auctions.

85 Jetta $5300 with 12 hours to go

85 Jetta TD Closed for $6600

86 Jetta $1920 with 6 days to go and resereve not met.

81 Caddy $6100

83 Rabbit $5100

83 Westy with a TDI $20,000.00

81 Caddy $8650

I' hoping to add my 1998 TDI with 114k to that list, as well as my 1982 Rabbit 1.6D pickup too (once I paint it and finish the interior).

Here's hoping...

That would be a great spot,   Perhaps a drive by through this site first would be nice.  It does seem like the ebay crowd are paying a lot now though.
2009 Jetta TDI Loyal edition, 6-spd. 16V 2.0CR

1985 VW Golf 5-spd, 4-door, 1.6NA  Bought from orig. owner in Savannah with 42,000 miles.
"Making the jump NA to TD" slow but sure.

1980 VW Rabbit LS 5-spd, 4-door 1.6NA almost 450,000miles  RIP

I have noticed the same thing for all of the older Diesel Volkswagens. Just shows how Volkswagen and other car companies need to bring some new Diesel cars over to the states. You can't go wrong getting a 2009 Jetta bluetec when they come out later this year. They will hold their value for years to come.

I would have though that the westy would have gone for more than that..

Have you guys seen what "gowesty" gets for good westies? And they almost never have Diesels in them, they sold one for $98k, with a gasser, completely insane.
