Question about boost gauges
« on: May 15, 2008, 01:17:26 pm »
Hey, I'm looking at getting a boost gauge (got a vnt-15 comin' in the mail). Anyways I've heard of gauges with a vacuum line and a boost line I think. I don't know anything about 'em so I need some schooling.  I found a guy on ebay that sells vdo ones that have little dings in 'em and stuff so they're cheap. Thanks
'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

I like the looks of the 0-15psi better.

Is the one with the "in Hg" for gassers? Thanks

Ps. Is $98 a good price for a VDO pyrometer w/ 12ft lead and thermocouple?

Yes $98 is a good price for a EGT gauge.

Either of those psi gauges will work fine, personally I would get the 25psi gauge but I'm running an ass load of fuel. If your stock the 15 psi gauge will be fine.

I partial to the VDO stuff cause it matches the existing gauges in the older VWs.

The E gauges place has a wide variety:

I'm using the 0 -30 PSI in my '79, and I've burried the needle a few times.

I bit the bullet and bought both the boost gauge and EGT gauge, $135 for everything, now the guy just has to send 'em.......
