looked through all of my online parts places an i cannot find a price on rings. dieselvw.com has pistons but i dont really need pistons. the car has been smoking blue under accel for quite some time so i think a ring job is going to be needed soon. just trying to price it out.

topped off in portland, drove home (172 mi) drove to work an around town (prolly 50mi) an i was down a little over a half quart (bout quarter way up the dip stick marking). it does have a small oil leak as well (pan gasket) but that is very small, it leaves maybe a quarter sized drop after sitting for a few.

If the rings are for your
1981 Rabbit Diesel with
engine code CR, then
www.autohausAZ has
piston rings Pt#068 198 151C.
This is for STD size, but they
also have the oversizes.

sweet thanks guys.

i just forgot i never went back an did the re-torque on the head. but she is burning quite a bit an smoking pretty bad so a comp test is coming very soon
