compound turbos

I have a K24 on my motor right now.
a buddy of mine has a k03 that he is trying to get rid of.
I don't have a manifold for the K03, so my question is how important is it for the exhaust to flow through the small turbo first.
because it would be way easier to just build a pipe to go from the exhaust side of the K24 into the K03 than the other way around.

i think it would be easier to run the k24 first, and have the wastegate always open, and then cut the pressure going to it once in a certain range, and also open the wastgate on the k03 once the k24 kicks in.  the k03 will probably still produce minor boost with the wastegate fully open.

how would I keep the wastegate open on the K24 if I am producing no boost?

I was thinking about just disconnecting the wastegate on the K24.
would there be a significant drop in exhaust energy by passing through the turbine if it is producing no boost?

well I just got a K03 for free, it has a little more shaft play than I would like in a turbo, but for testing purposes on my compound setup it should work fine.

I will cut the downpipe for my K24 and weld on a flange for the K03.
the wastegate for the K03 will be left stock(I think at about 7PSI) so it will not be pushed past where it should go, and the K24 wastegate will be set for 20PSI so I can get the high boost I want and still spool at a reasonably low rpm.

what ya' guys think?
