Hello all!
Yesterday I lifted the engine out of my old volvo 945 turbodiesel it was quite easy.
I fit it to the engine stand and gave it a good cleanup, man it was dirty...
I also took the oilpan off to investigate why the engine stopped running after a few seconds of very terrible noise (sound of a siezed bearing).
But to my surprise all crankbearings and all bigend bearings look normal.
I have not got the head off yet since I left the xzn tool at my dadīs place a few years ago (maybe 10) but he was gonna have a look in his workshop for it today so maybe next weekend I can inspect the head and the pistons.
The plans are anyway as follows:
Refurbish the crank with new bearings, off course the bigend bearings aswell.
If needed, a rebore of the cylinders to oversize otherwise just honing the cylinders and new rings.
If needed, new valves and guides, definetily new valve seals.
Refurbish the fuelpump and maybe a little tweaking...
Refurbish the injectors.
Send the turbo away for refurbishing.
A new oilpump is already on order... 350 euro
Any other good ideas except for the obvious like seals, hoses etc...??
Took off the cylinderhead today and there was no obvious damage...
I am wondering if it was the dieselpump that gave up... anyway the engine seems due for an overhaul so that is what i will do...
