retrofit Oil Pan Gasket with Baffle? Do I need one?
« on: March 27, 2008, 10:18:24 am »
I was putting togetehr a list of parts I need on Autohaus Az's website and pulled up a pan gasket and they list two.
Part# 044103609D "Oil Pan Gasket; Reinforced Rubber" $13.56
Part# 037115220B " Oil Pan Gasket; With Baffle,  Update retrofit with baffle plate to prevent oil pump starvation under severe conditions."  $36.24

That is first I have seen of one with a baffle. I can see the point I guess, seems like a way to go. just not sure, any cons to using the upgraded one?

Thanks,

My AAZ came stock with one. Since it's bonded to the baffle, it can't slip out of place either. You should get it.

yeah pretty much all engines after 93 made by VW had them. Not sure about the CLs though. I had one on my 1.6TD.
