90 to 100 axle swap

the 100mm axles i bought fit into my mk2 spindles.  only problem is that they are about 2 inches too long...

I dont have a 100mm flange to compair but if they are the same axles the flange can't be different depths.

There isn't enough slip on the axle to allow for much difference either way.

That should be very obvious on the flange..

Swap the new end that bolts to the trans to your old axles. ?

I THINK the cure is 16v Scirocco axles.

instead i swapped 90mm tranny flange on the tranny... problem solved  :lol:

the 100mm inner cv joints from A3 series will fit the splines of an A1 drive shaft however, the 100mm inner cv joint is thicker than the 90mm inner cv joint so to make it fit the difference in thickness needs to be machined off the shoulder on the drive shaft. Otherwise the cv joint cant slide far enough along the splines to fit the circlip

Acually I was thinking of going the other way, 90 mm trans flanges instead of 100 mm's. Its not like the dumb bunny has a whole lot of guts or anything.

im running 90mm axles in my rabbit. i took the rabbit axles, took the inner cv's off, put some 100mm CV's on my axles and called it good. the only reason my axles are a tight fit is because they are axles from a 4 speed car, and the 4 speed trans is narrower in the final drive section, by almost a whole inch. i have to have my engine loose in the mounts to put the axles in. or have the ball joints pulled and swing the hub and strut out of the way.
