Crank-shaft difference. Information needed.
« on: February 22, 2007, 03:53:54 pm »
Could someone please point me to a link, or towards a website that shows the specs for a 1.7td crank.  I would like to compare it against the 1.6td crank specs.
Thanks, jim

Audi80, Myke_w, do you have any experience or knowledge of anyone converting a 1.6td to a 1.7td by going to the larger pistons?  You have confirmed that the crank is the same.  I believe that I have read here earlier that the piston pins are the same.  Would it also stand to reason that the rods are the same as well?

I am heading to Canada next week to pick up two 1.6td's.  Motors are already pulled, complete.  One I was told had the bad heat cracks between the valves.  The other should be solid.  I am also picking up a 1.9TD head.  It will need a rebuild.  I was told the camshaft BROKE   while it was running. It is still straight.  Looks like a good oppertunity for the Pass. Perf. camshaft upgrade.  Thanks again for the help.        Jim
