Hi Gang,
First post and I did check the search and I got close to my question but
no luck.
We have a '85 Golf diesel (usa) and the instrument panel (IP)has a few problems. I pulled it out and found that the printed circuit has a few breaks in the foil.
So thinking I'll just go to the Junk yard and get another IP- but both were gas ---got them anyway thinking I could use them somehow.
Way different speedo (Rabbit vs Golf?)
I need to keep the original panel and just hard wire everything up and do away with the broken printed circuit.
I replaced the bogus oil pressure set up and water temp/gauge with a good oil pressure gauge and a good water temperature gauge.
So all we need is high beam- turn signal-glow plug-fuel gauge and the charge indicator. I think I can do without he rest of the LEDs
I managed to get everything working except the charge indicator led
looking at Mr. Bentleys fine manual I see that there are two resistors and a diode in that circuit.
What I need to know is what are the value of those resistors?
thanks for any help
hank
I got the alternator charge light working today
There were two different size and value resistors
happy trails

Good solve !!
Can I suggest you post the values of the resistors you changed... for the sake of the next dude that searches for this one... since the rest of us didn't know.
OK
for the alternator LED the value of the resistors are
smaller size was 4.7K Yellow violet red
huge resistor was 750M violet orange violet
If you look at the wiring in Bentley about the alt.LED
4.7K is hooked to the LED
the larger (physical )resistor runs parallel and is on the right side
best wishes
