For those of you who don't know I'm in the Heavy Duty Techniques program at Cambrian College. It's a 2 year program and the first year is pretty basic; and I slack off a lot and don't study but am still doing very well. It's definitely a good program and I have learned a lot.
Anyways, here's some pictures of our shop
There's me and Chris doing our work orders at the end of class
Safety first
Couple engines here
Few more
Couple More
If you ever wanted to see just how close the piston gets to the valves
Here's the other side of the shop
That's Chris, I'm not that gangster
A transport for good measure
I missed some stuff inside, and all the crap outside as well. I don't know if I'm allowed to have a camera in class so I had to be a bit sneaky

Good stuff. My buddy works as a Power Systems Field Mechanic for Finning and hes always got lots of cool stories and facts about industrial diesels. He brought back a piston from a Cat 3600 natural gas engine a while ago...now thats a big engine! 12" bore  Piston must have weighed 100lbs

that one pic of the pistons is really neat... they must last a real long time with the extra surface area

'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.
I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

I really wanted to steal one of the toyota 4,5 or 6 cylinder IDIs but I'm not allowed to do that. They threw a bunch out because people don't know how to install cams and they broke them. I think they threw out 6 engines. They have to scrap them, it's part of the conditions when they are donated to the school. Bummer, would have made for a nice swap in a little pickup
